Dreaming of becoming a certified diver? This is where it begins. The SSI Open Water Diver certification is your globally recognized passport to the underwater world — allowing you to dive independently with a buddy to a depth of 18 meters (60 feet).

Through a combination of digital learning, shallow water skill sessions, and four exciting open water dives, you’ll build the knowledge and confidence to dive safely — and start your journey into the world of scuba.

You’ll train with our lead instructor Jorge Trujillo (SSI Pro #121025), a seasoned SSI professional with over 15 years of experience. You can verify his credentials at any time through SSI's official portal: my.divessi.com/online_leader_check

Open Water Diver Course: $390 USD per person
Non-diver companion (ride-along): $35 USD/day
Certified diver companion (4 dives over 2 days): $160 USD

What to Expect

Day 1:

Orientation, digital learning review, and confined water skills training

Day 2:

Open Water Dives 1 & 2

Day 3:

Open Water Dives 3 & 4

Day 4:

Final exam, dive log review, certification via MySSI app

Flexible scheduling is available — we can condense into 3 days or spread across as needed.

If weather conditions in Varadero are not suitable, we’ll head to the spectacular Bay of Pigs on Cuba’s Caribbean side (approx. 2-hour drive). Expect calm waters, fantastic visibility, and a stop for lunch at a private Cuban restaurant ($10–15 USD per person, not included).

Requirements

Minimum age: 10 years old
Good physical health and swimming ability
Completion of the official SSI Diver Medical Questionnaire
Course length: approx. 3–4 days (4–5 hours/day)

Note: Divers aged 10–14 will receive a Junior Open Water Diver certification with a max depth limit of 12 meters (40 feet).
